Holiday Ball Recipes: Candy Cane Brownie Batter & Gingerbread

It’s the holiday season so naturally I had to make a couple ball recipes to spread some Christmas cheer ;) Gingerbread and candy cane are so classic to the holiday season that I simply couldn’t resist finding a way to get them into my favorite little morsels… no-bake energy balls. These little bit-size nibblers are perfect for a mid-day snack when you are craving something a little sweet! With ingredients this clean, your body will be thanking you for dodging the Christmas cookie tray in favor of these tasty holiday balls!

My Candy Cane Brownie Batter Balls are a fun twist on the original Brownie Batter Balls! I swapped the vanilla extract for peppermint and the crushed candy canes on the outside of each ball not only add the perfect holiday touch, but also the most delightful, sweet crunch as you bite into it’s chewy center. I used these Wholesome Organic Candy Canes that are made without high fructose corn syrup!

The perfect amount of peppermint paired with rich fudgy chocolate decadence, all wrapped up in a ball made with clean ingredients! The perfect guilt-free holiday treat. (gluten & dairy free)

Course: Dessert, Snack
Ingredients
  • 1 cup pitted Medjool dates
  • 1 cup salted cashews
  • 1/4 cup milled flax seed
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 Tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • 10 candy canes (crushed up)
Instructions
  1. Put all ingredients (except the candy canes) in a food processor and blend until a doughy ball forms.

  2. Roll into bite-sized balls and cover in crushed candy canes.

  3. Place the balls in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours to firm up, then enjoy!

These no-bake balls are not only perfect for your own snacking delight, but they are also great for giving as a gift! Your friends’ & family’s taste buds will be thanking you… so will their waistlines after all the highly sugared holiday treats of the season. Package them in a pretty box or tin, lined with parchment paper, tie with a bow and voila!

The texture of these gingerbread balls is TO DIE FOR. They are chewy, almost like caramel, and pack that soul-warming spiciness that we all love about gingerbread. You seriously can’t go wrong with these guys. I’ll be making these well past the end of the holiday season :)

  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
